I had the pleasure of being Dennis Scully’s guest on the Business of Home’s The Thursday Show, where we delved into the latest trends and innovations in the textile industry. Our discussion focused on the Milan shows: Salone del Mobile, SaloneSatellite, Fuorisalone and even Proposte. We also chatted about trends spotted earlier in the year in Paris. And it being Dennis, we ventured into topics like AI, originality in design, and what will replace ivory bouclé! In this post, I'll share details about the highlights we discussed in the podcast. Salone del Mobile is the cornerstone event of Milan Design Week, attracting designers and brands from all over the world to showcase the latest in furniture and interior design.

SaloneSatellite is an offshoot of Salone del Mobile dedicated to young designers under 35, providing a platform for new ideas and innovations.

Fuorisalone is encompasses the various unofficial events spread throughout Milan, featuring installations, exhibitions, and pop-ups.

Proposte, held at the stunning Villa Erba on Lake Como, is a premier international trade fair that brings together top textile manufacturers to showcase the latest innovations and trends in fabric and design."

Paris Deco Off is an annual event that showcases the latest in fabric and wallpaper design. It's a key event for professionals in the interior design industry to discover new collections and trends.

Maison et Objet is one of the world's largest trade fairs for home decor, interior design, architecture, and lifestyle culture. It features a vast array of products and trends.


Yves Salomon x Chapo Creations

DimoreCentrale hosted a number of wonderful collections including the gorgeous collaboration between Chapo Creations and Yves Salomon. The offerings blend luxurious fur embellishments with modernist furniture designs, using an atelier technique called intarsia that results in stunning, precise geometric patterns.

Antonin Mongin at LABÒ

Vegan fur made from vegetable fibers, creating hand-woven pieces that mimic natural pelts.

Verner Panton at 10CorsoComo

A special collaboration with the estate of Danish architect and designer Verner Panton (1926–1998) and a roster of companies still producing his designs under license, this installation highlighted Panton's playful, curvaceous furniture designs in an immersive, nightclub-like setting.

Studio Chloé Nègre

Known for their contemporary and vibrant designs, they collaborated Tissage de Flandres to create modern overlays on traditional tapestry designs.

Lelievre

Quenin

Lelièvre & Quenin

This French textile house has a rich history and continues to innovate with new collections that blend tradition and modernity. Recently relaunched by Lelièvre, Quentin brings back quintessential French country prints with a modern twist. An interview with Ingrid Lager, Artistic Director of Quenin, appeared in The Textile Eye 20: French Finesse.

Watts of Westminster

Renowned for their exquisite passimenteries and rich historical archives, continues to innovate by exploring the possibilities of digital print to faithfully recreate antique pieces. Watts of Westminster appeared in The Textile Eye 4: Decorex, Designer Interviews, & Frieze London.

Paola Lenti

Known for bright colors and modern designs, their latest showroom featured unexpected elements like tapestries and embroidered florals.

Memphis Milano

Celebrating the iconic Memphis design movement known for its bold colors, geometric shapes, and playful approach.

Reform Studio

Known for creating products from recycled plastic bags, Reform Studio continues to innovate with sustainable designs. They are a great example of young designers who view waste as a resource.

FCOGZZI

FCOGZZI, is the brand of third-time SaloneSatellite participant designer Francesco Galeazzi, who created a unique and playful snake chair made from patchwork denim, which can be configured in various ways.

Paola Navone

The trend of incorporating humor and irony into design is on the rise. Designers like Paola Navone emphasize the importance of wit and enjoyment in their work, encouraging a less serious approach to interior design.
